about

The Methadone Mile is a stretch of road in Boston where all the addicts converge. When I drive by in the comfort of my car, I see the sadness and despair. I hear the sirens. I feel the loss of life that happens here every day. I think of all those that I have lost to addiction. I pray to God for a cure to this epidemic.

lyrics

Methadone Mile

You want to see hopeless? See souls you cannot save?

Put a dollar in the hand of a shaking man with one foot in the grave

You want to see sadness? A sidewalk of tears ahead?

Thank your God for Every breath you take when you walk with the living dead.

You didn’t know that life could be so tough

Look away when you think you’ve had enough

Take a walk take a walk down the methadone mile with me

Take a walk take a walk down the methadone mile you’ll see

you want to make it better? With a wave of your healing hand? But nothing will change, it remains the same, and it’s hard to understand

This is an epidemic. Junk don’t discriminate. And your sons and your daughters and you friends and your loved ones may be on that street some day
